About The Author

William Shakespeare was the son of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. He was an English poet, playwright, and actor. He was the third of eight children. Shakespeare went to school at King's New School in Stratford, about a quarter-mile from his home. Even though it is unknown when Shakespeare was born, it is suspected that he was born on April 23, 1546. He was baptized three days later on April 26,1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. In 1582, at the age of 18, Shakespeare married 26-year-old Anne Hathaway. After marrying Anne, he had 3 children: Susanna Hall, Hamnet Shakespeare, and Judith Quiney. At age 11, Hamnet died because of unknown causes.  Most of his works were produced from 1589 to 1613. In 1608, he wrote mainly tragedies, including Hamlet, Lady Mcbeth, and King Lear. It is unknown when he wrote  Romeo and Juliet. Around 1613, Shakespeare retired to his birthplace, where he had a house, called "New Place". On April 23,1616,Shakespeare died . He was known as `The Bard of Avon' throughout his entire life and his works are still read and praised to this day around the world.

Meeting of Strangers

Romeo crashed a royal ball hosted by the Capulets while being heart broken over Rosaline (former girlfriend) and saw Juliet. Romeo did not know who Juliet was but fell in love with Juliet at first sight. Juliet also didn't know Romeo because he was disguising himself by wearing a Mardi Gras mask  but Juliet also fell in love. They met again, that evening, in the garden of the Capulets where the most famous scene of the play took place. 

Family Fued

The Montagues and Capulets are two rival families in Romeo and Juliet. The feud between both families had been going on for so long it continue to disrupt peace in the city. The feuding had become so intense the Prince of the city had threaten both families to try and keep the peace...or it would be consequences. These families "HATED "each other. The Montegues and Capulets had been fighting for so long that the Lords and Ladies of both families didn't know why they were fighting. They just knew that their families didn't get along.

The First Kiss

Their first kiss was when Romeo saw Juliet and she was so beautiful and Romeo was very charming. Then Juliet met Romeo and made exchanges before kissing twice and getting interrupted by the nurse. After Romeo left the party, Juliet found out that Romeo was a Montegue and Romeo also found out that Juliet was a Capulet and both was very sadden at the fact that they were in love with the enemy.

"FORBIDEN LOVE"

Romero and Juliet vowed their love and planned to get married as soon as possible. However, Juliet didn't know her father had arranged for her to marry Paris. Despite the ongoing of the families' fued, Romeo and Juliet got married secretly in Friar Lawrence's cell. After the marriage ceremony, Romeo was supposed to meet Juliet at her house by climbing a rope ladder provided by Juliet's nurse.

"Till Death Do Us Apart"

Friar Lawrence developed a plan to fake Juliet's death in order for Romeo and Juliet to be together. Friar Lawrence sends Friar John to tell Romeo about the plan to fake Juliet's death, but he can't deliver the message to Romeo. Romeo doesn't finds out about Juliet's fake  "death" scheme. So, Romeo commits suicide by drinking the poison he had bought because he couldn't live without Juliet. He dies near the Capulet's tomb after killing Paris. Juliet finds out that Romeo is dead so she stabs herself with Romeo's dagger because, she also can't live without her Romeo.

Writer's Comments

Romeo and Juliet is a tragic, poingant, love story that tells about two young lovers who ends up dying because a fued between their families and the fear of their families finding out about their undying love for each other. Romeo and Juliet's way of solving this problem is over the top for me, but that is what they thought was the only way out. The story is intense, and depressing. Romeo and Juliet has been deplicted into such a powerful love story.
